So tell me a bit about this game. Which region does it take place in, where in the canon timeline, etc.
That's not a question. But the game takes place in Kalos, approximately 1-2 years after the events of XY.Somehow the current Champion keeps their position idk how that works.
Also, the game is community-based. In fact, you're looking at the community you post in!
Everyone starts in Vaniville Town, and wakes up somewhere outside of the houses with their starter Pokemon.
What kinds of characters can I play in this game?
This is a panfandom game, so canon characters are of course allowed from any medium. AUs are allowed as well!
Can there be multiple versions of panfandom characters at once in this game?
Yes! One OU and one AU version of any one character may be present in the game at any one time. It can be the same medium (OU anime version and AU anime version) or different mediums (OU anime version and AU manga version)!
What about Pokemon anime/game characters?
Sure! The only game characters we cannot allow claims of are the gym leaders, elite four and champions.
And once one version of a character is claimed, another cannot be claimed at the same time. (i.e. If someone apped game-verse Ruby, Special-verse Ruby could not also be claimed at the same time.)
Can I app an actual canon Pokemon?
If that Pokemon has a set personality and has been shown in the manga or the anime, sure! They can even catch Pokemon if they'd like.
Legendary Pokemon follow the same one-per-game rule as canon Pokemon characters. Only one of each can be claimed at any given time.
What about OCs?
No, sorry. Because of the lack of an app system, there is no way to know whether an OC is well made, and expecting apps from people just for OCs seems like a really evil move. So, no OCs.
What's the age limit for my characters?
I'd say no younger than 10... and there's no upper age limit.
There's no apps? Then what's the catch to playing here?
No apps, and it works on a claim system. The catch is that this game is only open to my friends.
But I want to invite one of my friends to the game!
That's also not a question. :P But I'm cool with friends of my friends coming to play! Just let me know before they claim a character so I know who they are and don't immediately reject them due to not recognizing them.
How many characters can I play? And how many per canon?
Right now, I'm allowing five characters per person. No limit to how many per canon, but no apping two characters that would inevitably interact on-screen. SLIGHT off-screen handwaved interaction is fine.

Okay, so how does this work? My character gets a starter like in the games, right?
Yep! One starter Pokemon, base form, non-shiny, at level 5.
What Pokemon can I choose for my starter?
Any! As long as it's base form, and not a legendary or a fossil.
How are fossil 'mons going to work here?
That's a secret~ But there will be a way for characters to get them in the future!
Oh no, the starter Pokemon I want doesn't learn a damaging move before level 5! Is my character screwed?
Nope! If your character's Pokemon starter does not have a damaging move before level 5, it will automatically have the first damaging move it would learn when your character starts their adventure. Even if that damaging move isn't learned until evolution. (in the case of Abra, Ralts, etc.)
But my (canon/AU) Pokemon-verse character had Pokemon before coming to this game!
also not a question Sorry, brosis. They get brought here, or brought back here, with just a level 5 starter. The Pokemon they had before are stored away and cannot be obtained while they are here. When they go back, they'll lose all the Pokemon they gained here and get theirs back.
So what do I need to do in order to keep up with things here? What's a Pokemon info page
Glad you asked! A Pokemon info page is a page that lists your character's current party, including any Pokemon they have in their PC. What is necessary is listing their species name, nickname, gender, level, and held item. What is NOT necessary is listing where you found the Pokemon or listing their moveset, if you'd prefer to save space. You can simply use Serebii or Bulbapedia to know their movesets.
Can you show me an example of a Pokemon info page?
Sure thing! Here's one from when I played Ramona Flowers in Route 29.
But can't Pokemon only have four moves?
In this game, like many Pokemon games before it, your Pokemon aren't restricted to four moves! Any move your Pokemon could have learned up to that point is currently something they can use! This also applies to any 'Level 1' moves their evolutions have once they evolve into them!
Can I handwave getting money/items?
Yes! Since this is a private game I hardly expect you all to actually keep up with stuff like that. Just keep up with your current team and all will be fine!
How much can my character train their Pokemon per week?
Each Pokemon in a person's party can gain up to 5 levels per week. That's if they're a serious trainer, however. Characters that aren't so serious about it should expect to get 2-4 levels per week.
But I don't want my character to be a trainer. Are there other options?
Yep! They can be a breeder, they can work in later cities, they can travel with friends, they can even traverse the regions, sightseeing and catching Pokemon for fun! The gym challenge is not required at all!
--
(These next questions made with the help of perusing Route 29's FAQ.)
How many Pokemon can my character store in their PC?
Currently there are as many slots in one's PC as the maximum number you can store in X and Y versions. (Which is 900. Go nuts.)
HOLY CRAP!
Yep! You can Catch 'em All!(tm)
So, my character has special abilities. What happens to them?
You get to keep them, of course! Any destructive abilities get nerfed a fair bit, and any world ending abilities get nullified entirely! Especially any of them that might help you go back home. Sorry!
So if my character has powers that can help them win battles...
They can't use them during gym leader, elite four, champion, character battles or certain important battles. If your character is allowed to use these powers during important events, it will be noted in the event itself. Otherwise, assume it is not possible.
Any powers that do NOT affect the outcome of Pokemon battles can be used at any time, however.
Can they speak to Pokemon if they have psychic abilities/telepathy?
Yep! Just uh... be careful. I've heard sometimes Pokespeak can drive a person batty!
My character's frail/has health issues, or is currently dead! What happens with them?
They can healed when they get here! If you so choose, anyone with bad health or frailty is restored to a normal person's health. You can have your character keep their frailty/blindness/whatever might be wrong with them!
A character that has died comes in brought back! How? We don't know!
What about nonhuman characters? Am I forced to humanize them?
Not at all. What happens is you are given a choice to humanize them - if so, they will be changed into a humanoid version of their current self. If not, well, they'll come in just as they were in canon! Or AU'd. Or however it happened.
Can my character bring things from home?
Anything they had on them or were near them. At a later time they may be able to request things be brought from home, in exchange for something. What that 'something' is is yet to be seen!

How do TMs/HMs work here? Do they work like before Black and White or after?
After! Both TMs and HMs are infinite use. TMs can also be traded between players, but HMs cannot.
When can I trade Pokemon with another character?
In any city or town, there is a place in the Pokemon Center specifically for that.
What Pokemon can I catch in each area or town?
There is a list of this now! It's right here!
Why does it say it takes half a day to walk through Route 1 from Vaniville to Aquacorde City? It takes ten seconds in X and Y!
Because otherwise everyone could get all the way around Kalos in four or five days and I would be spinning in circles trying to keep up. These times are IC times, not OOC times, so feel free to backdate/forward-date posts accordingly. Also account for training time and time to catch Pokemon if your character is one to spend extra time admiring the scenery. (Usually just an extra half-day or day.)
Travel times by route can be found right here!
Can I catch shiny Pokemon here?
Not normally. There will be chances to catch them during certain events, though!
What about Trainer NPCs? I want to battle Youngster Joey!
Despite it being a year or so past XY, many of the same trainers are in Kalos, and in past regions as well! Feel free to complain about how you get daily calls about those top percentage Rattatas.
Is Fly usable in the game to go anywhere?
Yes, actually! Once your character reaches the city with the gym that would unlock Fly, they can undertake a small quest to obtain the HM in Kalos, which they can then use outside of battle to go anywhere they've gone to before in the region. For previous regions, the usage outside of battle will be locked until you get to the city with that gym.
Certain events will allow special transportation to the event area for the duration of it, and then teleportation back after it ends.
What if my character gets far enough away from the port city and needs to get back quick for an event or meeting castmates?
Never fear! Every city will have a Pokemon in the PokeCenter that will give you fast teleport back to the port city in the region.
--
So other regions will get unlocked?
Yep! As the (optional to participate in) overarching story progresses with events, regions will be unlocked in reverse order (So Unova next, then Sinnoh, etc.)
Oh cool! So I can beat the Champion in Kalos, take my level 80 team, and...
No.
Why not?
To make things fair for everyone, going to a new region means getting a new base non-shiny non-legendary Level 5 starter Pokemon. (Your choice which one!)
But I want to use my level 80 team in the other regions!
Beat the eight gyms in that region and you will be able to do that.
Is there a way for my character to get money faster than the usual way in game?
Yes! They can work in a town's Pokemon Center, Pokemon Mart, assist researchers, help keep the peace at the police stations, anything you can think of! The jobs last for one week and your character can not fully leave the city until their job is done! However, they can go into the surrounding routes to catch Pokemon and train while they're off-shift.
My character can run super fast/teleport!
Not anymore, they can't. Teleportation can only take you a short distance here, and anyone who runs the speed of light or anything faster than a run will find themselves only able to run as fast as an olympic racer. While you'll have a very very slight advantage over the rest of the populace, it won't be that much.
How does battling work in this game?
Check out Battling 101 over at Route 29. The only things you need to worry about there are the status effects and the fact that battles can be handwaved. Prize money and EXP is unnecessary for this.
Why did I link to Route 29 and not write up one myself? Because they explained it WAY better than I could.
Also the same thing with KO'd Pokemon applies here. Once a Pokemon can be KO'd, it lies on its side or lies down and is free for the capturing. Be sure to heal it afterward!

So, how does my character post to the network?
Each player will have two items that both correspond to the network: the PSS (Player Search System), which is a watch with a large rectangular screen similar to that of a phone, with a keyboard allowing you to post and reply with text; and the Holo-Caster which allows you to converse with others in both audio and video settings on the network. The PSS is required to view the network.
Can I backdate/forward-date posts?
You can certainly backdate as far back as you need to, but I must ask you do not forward-date more than a day, due to events and other things that may change in that span of time. Don't want to cause confusion!
What's the AC requirements here?
Nothing more than a formality, honestly. All you will need is some proof that you have done something this month. Be it a few tags, or a post, or anything at all. If you were unable to do anything this month, simply check in with an explanation (or feel free to private plurk me said reason and just check-in) and you'll get a free pass for that month. I can't give you free passes for more than one month at a time, and not more than every three months unless there is an urgent situation.

Anything else we need to know?
Well... there's Pokemon Swarms.
POKEMON SWARMS??
Yep! Every week or so there will be a new swarm on particular routes. Sometimes there will be multiple swarms!
But what if my character isn't near the area/can't get there in time?
They can always make a post asking someone to catch an extra of the swarm Pokemon for them!
That's not a question. But the game takes place in Kalos, approximately 1-2 years after the events of XY.
Also, the game is community-based. In fact, you're looking at the community you post in!
